Weekly News:
Good morning!
Happy New Year, though we're getting off to
a rough start, It's 11* this morning and of course the water's frozen.
Won't know how everything fared until
it all thaws out, We set up sprinklers
on the strawberries to cover them with a layer of ice which should protect
them. They're good uncovered down to
about 20* and they're a month away from blooming. All
the greens and carrots etc, we put row cover on, but with the
temperature so low for so long we will
just have to wait and see.
Apologies to the Health Food store people for the
late arrival yesterday. Gary went to bed after the boxes were done
trying to fend off a cold, worn out after a week of putting out the last of
the row cover, setting up the sprinklers, and getting the boxes ready, and I
got distracted with end of year bookeeping.
If you are picking up at the Farmers Market, Gary
would appreciate it if you could come as early as you can. He wants to
get back as quickly as possible to
try and get the water back up and running and of
course he will be standing out there in the cold until everyone picks up, not
a pleasant time, hopefully the sun will at least come out and cheer if not
warm everything up.
We had a great time in Canada at Sarah's
Mothers. Her sister from Toronto showed up with her family which was a
1st time event.
It was warmer up there than here,
Thanks for your support,
Gary & Sarah
