Weekly Farm News:
Good morning!
Finally a batch of good weather, It's even
warm outside this morning, A few more days of this and the asparagus
will
start popping out of the ground, It's been a
busy week in the greenhouse stepping up plants and seeding new ones,
Having to pull all the lettuce outside to make
room for the tomatoes, Starting to seed up eggplant and peppers.
New lot of baby chicks finally arrived yesterday,
We were expecting them to arrive Thusday morning and called the post office
and of course they didn't know anything,
then they called yesterday morning saying they'd be here about lunch time.
Sure enough
they did so we had to pick up Henry at school so
he could help settle the chicks into the brooder. Its amazing how many
chicks
can fit into the box. Acutally they come in
lots of 100 to a box and we got two hundred. They arrived in great
shape
and fortunately the weather is forcast to be mild
these first critical days of getting them started. Once they get their
feathers
(in three weeks) we can move them out to the field
pen and get them on grass instead of wood chips.
Thanks for your support,
Gary & Sarah
